PS3 Killzone resurfaces

Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

Dutch daily spotlights Guerilla Games’ elusive shooter; 120 developers working on project, downloadable content confirmed.

Ever since its controversial trailer fired up 2005’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, the forthcoming Killzone game for the PlayStation 3 has been missing in action. It was nowhere to be seen at a variety of high-profile events, including E3 2006 and the 2006 Tokyo Game Show. The shooter wasn’t even mentioned at the Gamers’ Day events Sony held to help hype the launch of the PS3.

Over 600,000 Wiis served

Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

Nintendo recaps its new system’s first eight days at retail, says more than 75 percent of Wii owners also picked up Zelda.

While Sony said it would have 400,000 PlayStation 3 systems ready for its North American launch, Nintendo consistently refused to put a comparable figure on its own efforts with the Wii launch. Instead it would say only that it would ship 4 million systems worldwide by the end of the year.

Now that the launch has come and gone, Nintendo has finally tallied up the number of Wiis it has sold. Today the company said that more than 600,000 Wiis were sold in the Americas in the console’s first eight days of release.

GTA Liberty City Stories Encourages Killing Prostitutes and Other Whatnots

Monday, November 27th, 2006

Menino, the new Jack Thompson?

Apparently, GTA encourages killing prostitutes, shooting cops, running over old people and beating
gang rivals, or at least, that is what Thomas M. Menino, Mayor of Boston thinks.

Over the past week, Boston has been in anti-GTA: Vice City Stories frenzy, as the city officials are against the game to be advertised on trolleys. But in just four weeks of advertising, Grand Theft Auto has earned MBTA no more and no less than US$ 115,000, at least according to what Boston Herald reports.

£1 million worth of 360s stolen

Monday, November 27th, 2006

Two truckloads of consoles hijacked as thieves stock up for Christmas.

Two consignments of Xbox 360s has been stolen in the UK this week, reports regional newspaper, the Express and Star.

The first occurred after a lorry (truck) was flagged down travelling south on the A38 at Hillards Cross. The driver, who thought he was being waved down to inform him of a problem with his vehicle, pulled over. The men then threatened him and dragged him out of the cab, they then made off with the lorry and £750,000 (approx $1.5 million) worth of consoles. The driver suffered minor injuries, and the lorry was later found–empty–further down the A38.

More PS3 exclusives head to 360

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

Koei makes Fatal Inertia and Bladestorm multiplatform, announcing both will come to Microsoft’s next-gen console.

It would appear that the PlayStation 3 may not have as many exclusive titles as previously thought. First came the announcement in September when Ubisoft said that the much-publicised Assassin’s Creed–which had previously been billed as a PS3 title–would be coming to the Xbox 360 and PC as well.

Madden NFL 07

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

Madden NFL 07 for the Wii isn’t just a quick-and-dirty port. It’s an excellent use of the Wii’s motion-sensing capabilities that revitalizes Madden in a number of ways.
The Good: Tons of motion-controlled moves that are responsive and intuitive; the new minigames are a blast with four players; all the features found in the gamecube version are present here; awesome tutorial system that teaches you everything you need to know.
The Bad: Graphics engine is getting a bit long in the tooth; time to get some new commentators; superstar mode still has a number of annoying issues.

PlayStation Pornable Finally Gets Discovered

Bombs and porn via your PSP

Looks like the FOX television network discovered just now the PSP, and they also found that it has a web browser. And to them WEB BROWSER=PORN, not a chance to get online where you can do lots of useful stuff, reading books and some other boooring stuff FOX knows nothing about.

FOX producers seem to forget that almost every teenager on the planet has access to a computer with an Internet connection, so why
is the PSP’s web browser so special I can’t quite understand. They present a particular case of a young boy bringing a PSP to school and hooking it up to the schools’ Wi-Fi connection. Nothing out of the ordinary so far, but wait, there’s more. That poor kid presumably went online via his PSP and hit a PORN website (THE SHAME!).

Fix for Call of Duty and Gears of War Matchmaking Problems

Monday, November 13th, 2006

I don’t know if you’ve gotten any errors while trying to join a Call of Duty 3 or Gears of War game, but you should probably read this, just in case you encounter such problems.

Many gamers have reported such errors, and Voodoo Extreme website brings now the partial solution for these problems. They present a thread on the Xbox
forum featuring some instructions on how to get rid of any connection errors. To be more exact, the post refers to a fix for Gears of War but let’s hope that it will applicable to Call of Duty 3 also.

The post instructs to choose exactly what kind of game you want, versus, cooperative and so on. After choosing the type of game, if your selection was versus, you must decide if you want to be ranked or not and after that, you must select “Custom Match”.
