We all know how video games are nowadays blamed for different things related to teens, from the decline in reading to even suggesting that violent games are related to teens’ levels of agression, however it seems that a very popular UK writer decided to write a book decided entirely on one of the most popular war games nowadays, Medal of Honor.

The author we are talking about is a former SAS soldier, now a popular writer in the UK and not only. His best-selling fiction book Strike Back was recently adapted into a TV series and he is also the writer of an autobigraphical book – The One That Got Away – related to his escape from Iraq during Bravo Two Zero mission. Recently, Chris Ryan has worked with EA to write a prequel novel of the Medal of Honor war video game.

This is the first ever made literary creation that is based entirely on a videogame, a thing that is very common in the film industry where movies based on videogames are very popular among teens, along with videogames based on movies. The action of this book takes place in modern-day Afghanistan and introduces the characters appearing in the game’s missions like soldier Voodoo or Dusty.

Chris’ book brings together to different worlds, the world of computer games and the literature one and what it is created as a gateway to enlarge Medal of Honor audience could also be a great way to encourage teens reading, as it is a book written exactly on what interests them more : a popular video game. This is the first time Medal of Honor does not take place in the WW2 theatre but in the modern warfare of Afghanistan where an elite band of soldiers operate under the National Command Authority with new and intriguing missions any player will definitely enjoy.
