After missing the holidays, the team’s back on track.

With Gran Turismo 5 who-knows how many months off, serious racing fans have been expectedly anxious for more details on Microsoft’s Forza Motorsport 2. The racer was supposed to arrive in November, but additional development duties had the team going back under the game’s hood and tweaking, tweaking, tweaking — and they’ll continue to do so until May, it seems.

Microsoft announced this morning Forza Motorsport 2’s lined for a May release, though they avoided a specific date. “Our schedule right now has us hitting Xbox certification around the middle of April and going gold soon aftewards [sic]. We want them to put the game on shelves as soon and fast as they can humanly muster. So optimistic estimates have us at retail in the first half of May — obviously the sooner the better and that’s our goal,” said the game’s community manager, Che “I’m just so darn cute” Chou.

Chou also went onto reveal the 12 tracks you’ll be racing around later this year:

# Mugello Autodromo Internazionale
# Suzuka Circuit
# Sebring International Raceway
# Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
# Tsukuba Circuit
# Road Atlanta
# Silverstone Circuit
# Nurburgring Nordschleife
# Maple Valley Raceway
# Sunset Peninsula Infield
# New York Circuit
# Test Track

Maybe we’ll see a new trailer on Xbox Live soon.
