Real gameplay footage, Snake’s new tricks…and wait till you see what’s after the credits.
“Next year.” Time and time again, that’s what we’ve heard from Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima on when he’d show actual gameplay footage of his highly anticipated PlayStation 3 stealth-action adventure Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.. What a liar — on the big screen at Konami’s TGS booth, attendees can catch more than three-plus minutes of the game — the real game.

Here are the highlights:

# It all starts with a geriatric Solid Snake getting off the ground (which is covered in dead bodies) and he grins at the camera. What a cocky SOB!
# New move No. 1: Rather than just normally crawling from cover to cover, Snake now rolls along the ground to safe spots.
# Snake lets his little robotic friend Metal Gear MK-II take out an unsuspecting enemy with a taser to the family jewels. Ouch.
# Taking advantage of his new Octo-Cam (which makes Snake’s stealth suit, like a chameleon, resemble his surroundings), Snake plays dead, two enemies walk right by, and as they turn the corner he shoots them from a first-person perspective. No word on whether MGS4 will adapt real FPS controls this time around (enough of this “holding multiple buttons to shoot” BS, please).
# Again using his Octo-Cam, Snake uses his disguise to jump an enemy from behind and take him out CQC (close-quarters-combat) style.
# New move No. 2: Instead of boxes, Snake hides in a barrel and, while inside of it, bowls over a few enemies. At his age (or make that any age), that’s gotta make him dizzy.
# Snake plays dead again, but this time, he’s trying to avoid one of those Gekkou robots. But the Gekkou ain’t so easily fooled, and just before he squashes Snake, the old fart rolls outta the way and proceeds to shoot at it in first person. It should also be noted that as he’s shooting, Snake shimmies backwards while on his back — another new mechanic, perhaps?
# In the middle of another shootout, Snake ever so slowly crawls along the battlefield, and it almost looks like he’s making sweet love to it (no joke!).
# New move No. 3: While on the ground, Snake quickly flips over and blindly chucks a grenade in the direction of some enemies, and luckily, takes all four of them out.
# After the credits roll, you see a guy covered head to toe in camo, and after a squad of guards pass on by, you see him remove his mask and — BAM! — it’s a young Solid Snake?!?!? Or someone that sure looks like him. Man, Kojima sure knows how to f*** with his fans. Not to mention keep them talking until the next MGS4 trailer.
